(NOTE- These are just breast implants, NOT PIP Breast Implants)
PIP/ Poly Implant Prothese is a French company that makes breast implants. Unfortunately, they were in the news today, because their silicone implants were removed from the French market because of differences in the type of silicone they reported in the implant, versus what was actually in it.
Here’s an original French article, en francais-

Here’s the less sexy and romantic English version (because French is a much sexier language to speak, let alone read )-

So, what does this mean for you? In the US, not much, since PIP no longer sells breast implants in the US market. However, PIP did sell their version of saline implants in the US market several years ago. They were very soft and pliable, and felt AWESOME compare to other saline implants.
Unfortunately, the PIP saline implants seemed to have a much higher failure rate compared to other companies. PIP left the US market several years ago. If you have PIP saline implants, you may want to consult with your local plastic surgeon as to how you can possibly have them exchanged.

Although the difference is relatively small, Saline implants are lighter than silicone implants of the same size.
