Do you know which brand breast implant to get? Did you even realize that there are only 2 different breast implants for cosmetic breast augmentation approved in the US market?

Allergan is a large company that also makes eye care products, Botox, Juvederm, Latisse, and a bunch of others. The breast implants were originally called McGhan, then Inamed, and now are called Allergan.

Mentor has made breast implants for many years, and were recently purchased by Johnson and Johnson. Mentor also makes Nia24 skin care products.

Both companies have FDA approval for saline and silicone implants. As far as I can tell, most patients do NOT ask for a particular brand of implant. That choice often seems to be up to the surgeon involved. Personally, since both implants are FDA approved, they seem about the same to me.

Of course, I will now be accosted by my local Allergan and Mentor reps for that last sentence.
